RACE ROUTE
Below is information on the route of the 2020 Shrewsbury Half Marathon.
While the course begins and ends at Shropshire County Showground, the route itself takes in both the medieval town centre of Shrewsbury and some of Shropshire’s beautiful countryside.
As you run through the town centre you will be treated to over 600 listed buildings, lots of which are black and white timber framed, and steep narrow streets with obscure names. You will run along Mardol Head, Milk Street, Wyle Cop, Dog Pole and past Grope Lane, to name but a few.
Look out for Shrewsbury Library, formally a school attended by Shrewsbury’s most famous son, Charles Darwin, and across from this the Castle which has stood for centuries. After you ‘conquer the Wyle Cop’ you then head out to run the second half of the race in the Shropshire countryside before finishing back in the showground.
